The 4th IEEE Forum for Innovative Sustainable Transportation Systems (IEEE-FISTS 2024) took place in Riverside, California, from February 26 to 28, 2024, attracting approximately 120 attendees from across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. This conference was hosted by the IEEE ITS Society along with the University of California-Riverside’s Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT). This conference provided a platform for discussions on eco-friendly intelligent transportation systems (ITS), electric vehicles, shared mobility, and sustainable freight.
Keynote speakers Cristina Olaverri-Monreal and Marcia Pincus delivered insightful talks on carbon-neutral mobility and reimagining ITS for sustainability. Plenary sessions, led by Srini Gowda and Ankur Gupta, explored topics such as automated vehicles and AI-driven EV charging grids. Panel discussions covered vehicle connectivity, shared mobility, and sustainable freight, led by experts in the field.
The conference program showcased 80 accepted full papers and poster abstracts. During the banquet on February 27th, several presenters were honored for their outstanding contributions to the field, including:

Throughout three immersive days, attendees engaged in discussions, presentations, and networking opportunities. The conference also offered a reception, banquet, and a special tour of the California Air Resources Board (CARB), providing participants with firsthand insights into regulatory efforts shaping the future of sustainable transportation. IEEE-FISTS 2024 not only fostered meaningful connections but also ignited inspiration for advancing sustainable transportation solutions. We look forward to more conferences like this that pave the way for future collaboration and innovation in the field.
