  • Aerosol Flux Postdoctoral Scholar Position

    The University of California, Riverside seeks applications for a postdoctoral scholar position. The postdoctoral scholar will lead to carry out high-resolution large eddy simulation studies to relate simulated turbulent aerosol flux measurements to prescribed aerosol surface exchange rates and analyze and evaluate turbulent aerosol flux measurements from a variety of field campaigns.

    The Bourns College of Engineering, Center for Environmental Research & Technology (CE-CERT)’s mission is to be a recognized leader in environmental education, a collaborator with industry and government to improve the technical basis for regulations and policy, a creative source of new technology, and a contributor to a better understanding of the environment. Established in 1992 and now operating as the largest research center at the University of California at Riverside, CE-CERT brings together multiple disciplines throughout campus to address society’s most pressing environmental challenges in air quality, climate change, energy, and transportation. CE-CERT’s activities encompass all three aspects of the University of California’s overarching mission: research, education, and public service.

    Candidates must have strong analytical skills and experience with running atmospheric models. Applications will be assessed using the achievement(s) relative to opportunity framework (further information below).

     

    Requirements for the position include:
    1. Demonstrated experience with running atmospheric models;

    2. Recent accomplishments demonstrating graduate-level and/or postdoctoral research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications;

    3. Ph.D. in a relevant science or engineering field;

     

    Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following:
    1. Experience with large eddy simulation;

    2. Experience with analyzing data from field studies;

    3. Experience with eddy-covariance flux measurements;

    4. Experience with statistical data analysis approaches;

    5. Proficiency with software programs and programming languages including Julia, Python or equivalents

  • Aerosol Measurement Postdoctoral Scholar Position

    The University of California, Riverside seeks applications for a postdoctoral scholar position. The postdoctoral scholar will work with graduate students and the PI to perform mobile aerosol measurements of sub-10 nm particles within the Los Angeles metropolitan area through an EPA funded project. The objectives are to determine city-scale sub-10 nm concentrations, generating a source inventory describing emissions from selected sources, and developing a target inventory that will highlight geographic areas with a high likelihood of having high-toxicity sources. The project will provide opportunities for laboratory work, field work, and modeling activities.

    2. Experience with transmission or scanning electron microscopy;

    3. Experience with statistical data analysis approaches;

    4. Proficiency with software programs and programming languages including Julia, Python or equivalents;

    5. Experience with dispersion modeling.

    We are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing and Communication Student Assistant to support our Marketing and Communications Manager at the Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT). This role entails various aspects of graphic design, communication strategy, website management, and event support. The ideal candidate is a motivated student with a strong interest in digital marketing, design, and the execution of effective communication strategies, with a specific talent for content creation, video editing, and graphic design.
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Content Creation and Strategy:
      • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to develop and implement communication strategies that effectively convey messages to various audiences.
      • Create engaging content for different communication channels, including drafting and editing copy for social media, newsletters, and the website.
      • Produce and edit videos for marketing campaigns and online platforms.
    • Graphic Design:
      • Design and produce visually appealing graphic content for digital and print media.
      • Maintain brand consistency across all visual and textual content.
    • Website Management:
      • Assist in managing and updating the website, ensuring content is current, engaging, and aligns with our strategic goals.
