CE-CERT Hosts Laboratory Tours for Students from Various Riverside County High Schools

The Science and Technology Education Partnership (STEP) recent held their first in-person STEM Summer Learning Labs since 2020, marking the program’s 6th consecutive year. For each of the 3 week-long programs, 50 high school and recommended 8th grade students will work in teams of 4-5 to learn from professionals, develop and present solutions to proposed problems to a panel of judges for scholarship rewards. CE-CERT, alongside UC Riverside, is proud to be a partner to this valuable program.

On the third week, STEM Solutions (July 25th – 29th, 2022), students had the opportunity to tour CE-CERT’s various laboratories including the Electric Grid Computer Simulation (SIGI), Transportation Systems Research (TSR), the famous Atmospheric Processes Lab (APL), and the Heavy-Duty Chassis Dynamometer (HDCD). Throughout the interactive morning, students were able to experience first-hand the systems and simulations that our CERT students utilize for their research.
