CE-CERT and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Host Symposium in Honor of CARB’s 50th Anniversary

June 7, 2018

UCR CE-CERT hosted a symposium in celebration of CARB’s 50 year history of innovative research and game changing technologies and policies that we have pioneered as a region. CE-CERT Director Dr. Matthew Barth, CARB Executive Officer Richard Corey, and SCAQMD Executive Officer Wayne Nastri kicked off the morning.  The symposium program also featured contributions from several distinguished industry and academic contacts across three panel sessions that addressed topics such as clean air technology and policy game changers, the role of research in air quality, and future research directions, and included a lunchtime address by Los Angeles Times Business Columnist Michael Hiltzik and a student led interview with CARB Chair Mary Nichols.

At the conclusion of the symposium, the 300+ attendees explored a showcase that featured emerging sustainable technologies with the potential to have a significant impact on air quality. The showcase also featured an exhibit detailing the future Riverside CARB campus, including a virtual interactive model of the indoor facilities, and a live demonstration by AVL of a of a new futuristic light duty laboratory. The day-long event concluded with a reception in appreciation of the sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees.
