Title: Air Quality from Ground Transportation, Off-Road Equipment, and Marine Vessels: Impacts of Low-Carbon Fuels and Engine/Aftertreatment Technologies

Short introduction: Tianbo’s dissertation, from different angles, investigated the air quality impact of different types of renewable and alternative fuels on light-duty vehicles and heavy-duty applications as well as different types of after treatment systems technologies on marine engines including those from ocean going vessels (OGVs) and commercial harbor crafts (CHCs). The focus is to understand the gaseous emissions including NOx, THC, CO2, CO, VOCs, NH3, N2O, CH4 and particulate emissions including PM, solid particle number, and particle size distribution pattern characteristics from those new technologies or fuels and ultimately, to understand its potential impact on the environment and human health.
