This project customizes, implements, demonstrates, and evaluates the performance and cost effectiveness of advanced energy technologies for integrating high performing solar panels, high-efficient battery energy storage system, smart inverters, energy management within a new 95-unit affordable housing complex in Central Long Beach, California. The microgrid system architecture is composed of 100kW roof-top solar PV from SunPower and SolarEdge, 150 kW/150 kWh energy storage system by Dynapower and Samsung, building energy management system by UCR, SEL power quality revenue grade electrical meters, grid isolation disconnect.
The benefits of this project include:
-
Improving energy efficiency
-
Demand flexibility
-
System performance
-
Cost effectiveness of solar + battery + smart inverter
