CE-CERT Director Appointed to California Energy Commission Advisory Committee

September 26, 2017

CE-CERT Director Dr. Matthew Barth was recently appointed to the California Energy Commission’s advisory committee for the Alternative and Dr. Matthew BarthRenewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP).

As the primary energy policy and planning agency for the state, the California Energy Commission is committed to the reduction of energy costs as well as minimizing the environmental impact of energy use. The ARFVTP’s goal is to accelerate the development of alternative transportation fuels through the improvement and commercialization of alternative fuel vehicles and infrastructure that will help the state meet the obligations of its climate change policies.

Each year, the advisory committee establishes funding priorities and strategies taking into consideration the Program goals, diversity commitments, and leveraging of other public and private investments to fill funding gaps that would otherwise hinder widespread advancement of these technologies. These strategies are described in the annual Investment Plan update for the ARFVTP. The program advisory committee members will be responsible for overseeing the distribution of $100 million in funding annually to qualified entities in the form of grants, revolving loans, loan guarantees and other appropriate funding measures. The Investment plan, along with additional information about the ARFVTP program can be found here.
