9:15 – 10:00 AM Keynote Address: The Evolution of ITS: From Vehicles, Infrastructure, and Intelligence

Speaker: TBA

Description: This keynote will explore the transformative role of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in modern transport systems.

10:00 – 11:00 AM Panel Discussion 1: ITS for Safety and Congestion Management

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) play a crucial role in enhancing safety and managing congestion on roadways by integrating advanced vehicle infrastructure technologies such as sensors, communication systems, and real-time data analytics. These
systems enable proactive traffic management through tools like adaptive traffic signals, incident detection, and dynamic messaging, which help reduce delays and improve response times to accidents or hazards. ITS also supports safer driving conditions by providing drivers with timely information about road conditions, speed limits, and potential dangers, while Facilitating smoother traffic flow and reducing bottlenecks. Overall, ITS contributes to a more efficient, safer, and sustainable transportation network. This session will set the scene for how ITS is contributing to the over-all well-being of our lives.

Discussion will cover:

  • How ITS technologies are reducing accidents and improving traffic flow
  • Case studies from urban and regional deployments

Moderator: Kanok Boriboonsomsin

Panelists: TBA

11:00 – 11:15 AM Morning Tea Break Light refreshments and networking.
11:15 – 12:15 PM Technical Session: Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Smarter Mobility

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to enable autonomous driving, enhance decision-making, optimize traffic flow, and improve safety. By leveraging machine learning and predictive analytics, AI can process vast amounts of real-time sensor data for navigation, traffic data to forecast congestion patterns, detect incidents, and suggest optimal routing strategies. AI-powered computer vision systems can also monitor road conditions, identify hazards, and support autonomous vehicle navigation. Furthermore, AI enables adaptive traffic signal control, which dynamically adjusts signal timings based on current traffic volumes, reducing delays and emissions. Overall, AI transforms ITS into a more responsive, efficient, and intelligent framework for modern transportation management.

Discussion will cover:

  • Applications of AI in traffic prediction, incident detection, and decision-making
  • Ethical and data governance considerations

Moderator: TBA

Panelists: TBA

12:15 – 1:15 PM Lunch Break Lunch provided for attendees.
1:15 – 2:15 PM Panel Discussion 2: Sustainability through ITS

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) contribute significantly to sustainability by promoting more efficient and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. ITS reduces fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by smoothing traffic flow, as well as minimizing idling and congestion. Additionally, ITS supports the integration of electric vehicles and public transport by providing infrastructure for charging stations and real-time transit information, encouraging modal shifts away from single-occupancy vehicles. ITS helps cities reduce their carbon footprint and move toward more sustainable, resilient transportation networks.

Discussion will cover:

  • ITS solutions for reducing emissions and promoting eco-friendly transport
  • Integration with public transport and active mobility
  • Role of data in measuring sustainability outcomes

Moderator: Hang Qui

Panelists: TBA

2:15 – 3:15 PM Workshop: Preparing for Automated Vehicles

The relationship between Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and automated vehicles is deeply interconnected, as ITS provides the foundational infrastructure and data environment that enables safe and efficient autonomous driving. ITS technologies such as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, real-time traffic management, and sensor networks support automated vehicles by delivering critical information about road conditions, intersections and potential hazards. In turn, automated vehicles contribute data back to ITS networks, enhancing situational awareness, and enabling more responsive traffic control. This synergy improves safety, reduces congestion, and supports the broader goals of smart mobility and sustainable urban transport systems.

The workshop will cover:

  • Infrastructure readiness and policy frameworks
  • Human-machine interaction and safety protocols
  • Interactive session with scenario planning and stakeholder input

Moderator: Mathew Barth

Panelists: TBA
