Dr. Georgios Karavalakis is an Associate Research Engineer in the Center for Environmental Research and Technology and an Associate Adjunct Professor in the Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of California, Riverside. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Portsmouth in UK and a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He joined UC Riverside and CE-CERT in 2010 where he developed a research program targeting the strategically-important area of engine combustion of alternative fuels for transportation, their air quality implications, and health effects of particulate matter emissions. He is specifically interested in fuels and biofuels interactions in current technology internal combustion engines and their impact on secondary aerosol emissions. He led the CRC AVFL-17b study, as well as several fuel and emissions studies funded by State agencies and industry.
