Student Opportunities

In the lab, undergraduate students can work alongside nationally and internationally renowned researchers on real-world projects to build their skills and apply the lessons they learn in the classroom. With funds from extramurally supported research, CERT is able to provide jobs for a significant number of undergraduates. Graduate students at CERT are eligible to receive full fellowships and can conduct their research as part of sponsored research projects.
CERT and the Bourns College of Engineering are working together to integrate research opportunities with curriculum to expose more students to hands-on research opportunities. In many cases, corporate support is tied to summer internships for our students -- a good example is the Research Advancement Program (RAP), which involves mentors from industry in the educations and professional development of our students. These internships give our students the opportunity to apply what they have learned and to start building professional networks that will serve them throughout their careers.
