CE-CERT Launches the Air Quality and Climate Research Training (ACT) Program

April 24, 2018

PollutionCE-CERT recently launched its new educational initiative aimed at preparing students and professionals of all experience levels across a variety of industries to help the State of California meet its clean air goals through the understanding and application of the latest related research and technologies. The program, called the Air Quality and Climate Research Training (ACT) Program, was made possible in part by a $1 million contribution by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

β€œThe ACT program recognizes the increasing demand for a training program that supports careers in air and climate-focused industries. This program provides hands-on experience and the exposure necessary for local students and professionals to be competitive for the surge of opportunities being established in our area,” said Nicole Davis, CE-CERT deputy director.

The first course in the program is set to launch in the summer of 2018, titled, β€œCollecting Real World Emissions Using Portable Emission (and Activity) Measurement Systems.” Future courses will address topics such as air pollution health impacts, maximizing co-benefits of clean air and climate change activities, sustainable mobility and goods movement, clean air and climate change policies, and renewable energy generation and integration.
