Deputy Director
Nicole Davis, a CE-CERT/UCR alumna has returned to the Center as the new Deputy Director, succeeding Dennis Fitz. Ms. Davis received her Master’s in Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Riverside in 2001, and then served as a research engineer in the Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT) until 2004.
From 2004 to 2011, Ms. Davis simultaneously served in two roles: as the vice-president for the International Sustainable Systems Research Center, and as a consultant to the Air Quality Research Program at the California Energy Commission. In these roles, she has managed more than 20 projects totaling $9 million.
Much of her research has focused on understanding sources of pollution and developing tools for accelerating the movement to a sustainable, environmentally responsible world. Another large part of her career has been spent in developing and managing projects to advance the current state of knowledge in energy and air quality research and in articulating the needed research pathways to policy makers.
In her return to CE-CERT as Deputy Director, her efforts will be focused on both the day to day operation of CERT and in fulfilling its mission to serve as a creative source of new technology and a valuable contributor to solving pressing environmental and sustainability issues. She said she is excited to join the CE-CERT team because she believes that this is a critical time in determining our country’s future energy supplies and tackling air quality and climate change challenges.
