May 17, 2018  Hosted by UC Riverside

The UC Riverside Bourns College of Engineering, Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT) will host a symposium and technology showcase celebrating the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) 50 years of leadership in cleaning the air, improving public health, and working toward solutions to mitigate climate change.  The CARB 50th Anniversary Celebration Symposium will be held on Thursday May 17th, 2018 at the Bourns Technology Center, adjacent to the UCR CE-CERT campus.

CARB’s policies and regulations, based on extensive research and sound science, have driven innovative solutions such as catalytic converters, cleaner fuels, and low- and zero-emission cars and trucks. This has resulted in improvements in California’s air quality and the health of its residents, even as the population and economy continue to grow. The symposium will highlight these accomplishments and discuss the next technological and scientific breakthroughs needed to help achieve a sustainable and healthy future for all Californians.

This celebration will include a buffet luncheon and symposium with CARB Chairperson Mary Nichols and other thought leaders in the field of air quality, and will conclude with a reception and technology showcase. The showcase will display technologies of our future, including an interactive virtual reality experience of the new Riverside CARB emissions testing facility.
